Ginger beer

Ginger beer is easy to make at home.

2 liter plastic bottle (MUST BE PLASTIC but can be smaller)

1/4 tsp yeast

juice of one lemon

1.5 tablespoon grated ginger

1 cup sugar (some is consumed in carbonation)

Use a funnel (I made a paper cone) and put sugar and yeast in first.

Mix lemon juice and finely grated ginger together and pour into the bottle

Rinse the lemon/ginger vessel with clean water and add to the bottle. Almost fill the bottle with clean water and cap shut.

Here’s why the plastic is important. Check how soft the bottle is. It should take 24 – 48 hours to carbonate and the bottle will become hard.

Don’t forget about it or there could be a little explosion.

Refrigerate once it’s carbonated.
