Some of our supplies were grown for us by previous caretakers. We have heaps of tomatoes, pumpkins, lettuce, beans, pumpkins, beetroot, pumpkins, and did I say, pumpkins? I am pureeing some today for the future. Even when I don’t have a lot of food to prepare, I still have to make bread and yogurt. It’s all in the works now.
Here’s the length of our shopping list from Walker’s Supermarket on Flinders Island. We communicated by email and met up when we arrived on Flinders Island. Meat was ordered separately from a John B Swift butcher in Tasmania. The list is long, the freezer and pantry is full and I hope we have just the right amount. I sometimes slip at making adjustments along the way. Right now it looks like we have a lot of coffee, and that was the most expensive item on our shopping list but if we ran out, it could get ugly here.
Here is all our supplies waiting to board the plane on Flinders Island for the final trip to Deal Island. It all arrived in great shape, there was even a surprise bottle of wine in the bins and not one egg broke.
Yesterday we had the last of the chicken salad for lunch. I made a batch of ginger ale, roast a pork loin in the slow cooker for tonight and had chicken soup with popovers for dinner and the last of the first of many pumpkin pies.
